WAITING FOR EMERGENCY RESPPONDERS: LACK OF 911 Dispatchers LEAVES MILLIONS OF EMERGENCY CALLS ON HOLD

WASHINGTON —   A major shortage of 911 Dispatchers  and outdated technology in control rooms are slowing down emergency rescue services across the United States.

This crisis is leaving millions of people waiting on call hold during life or death emergencies. People are calling 911 again and again but the 40 seconds hold is now exceeding for minutes. New research  data shows a dangerous breakdown in public safety.

More than 1.3 million emergency callers had to wait on hold for minutes so that 911 Dispatchers receive the call. But they had to keep waiting.

This breaks national safety protocols, which describes that 90% of calls must be answered within 10 seconds. The problem is worst in these major cities, Oakland and California.

People facing deadly and harsh emergencies have been left waiting for over  minutes before an operator answers

.Kansas City, Missouri,  There are so few 911 Dispatchers  that Officers  have to stop their regular work to answer emergency calls, creating long delays. Experts believe that are due to low pay, high stress environment, No proper 911 Dispatcher training and outdated technological equipment’s. Because the job is so stressful, many Dispatchers are quitting the job. This leaves the remaining Dispatchers staff over loaded and unable to keep up with the high number of incoming calls that included disturbing and fake calls too.

Local governments in many states are now under a lot of pressure to fix the system. Some cities are trying to raise the pay, speed up hiring process, or use AI systems to handle non emergency calls. However, officials warn that until they hire more 911 Dispatchers, these dangerous delays will continue
